My first memories of clay began in Ms. G's art class on the eastern plains of Colorado. Jean was an amazing art teacher who made pottery part of the curriculum. I fell in love with clay the instant I got my hands on it. Fast forward 18 years, I had just graduated with a degree in Horticulture Science and had decided to move back to the family farm. A few months later I fell into an art teaching position at the school I had graduated from. Through this experience I was able to take additional pottery classes through the Junior College in Sterling under the instruction of a super talented local potter, Joyce May. I worked with clay throughout my 20's in a tiny bunkhouse studio on the farm between planting/harvesting crops, and caring for cattle. I married my husband, we built a home, and started a family. I ended my teaching career and my pottery went on sabbatical for 10 years. Now that my kids are all in school, I have the winter to work on pots while the crops are waiting for spring. l am so grateful you are here, enabling me to create what I love with my hands once again.
